Projects completed by RHA
Public buildings and railways
RHA have been involved in many public buildings such as swimming pools, leisure centres, schools, hospice, nursing homes and hospital projects from inspection of existing structures to extensions and new build. We have experience in providing structural and civil engineering solutions to complex architectural demands and have been fundamental in value engineering (cost cutting) discussions. Our professional team are DBS checked, PTS and CSCS trained.
Theatres
From the large London West End theatres to smaller local town, or school arts and music stages, RHA have the experience of all aspects. We understand the pressures put on the various galleries for a modern stage production and the need for a flexible structure to accommodate change after change of productions. We have provided solutions for hanging jeeps, helicopters, 4 tonne scenery movements, fixing double purchase counterweight hand pulleys systems and power flying systems. We have supplied structural assessments for incoming and outgoing stage productions, their impact on the grid and structure integrity of the building. We have successfully completed extensions and new buildings. RHA have worked for both front of house and back of house and therefore understand the needs of both. More recently RHA have been involved in Plaster surveys for London theatres.
Refurbishment & damage repairs
Damage
Accidents happen! And there are times when these affect the structure of a building. Be it fire, impact, collision, structural movement due to inherent defects, or foundation movements, RHA have helped many clients with putting back into service dilapidated, or damaged buildings giving them a new lease of life. The Buncefield disaster, pub fire, barn fire, vehicles reversing into columns, we have been there, getting involved in assessing and deciding if the buildings are repairable and more importantly serviceable. Our professionals continue the RHA tradition of design excellence through exceptionally creative and informed solutions.
Refurbishment
Everything has a life span, including buildings 400 yrs or 50 yrs old and we have assessed most types of structure to decide when to repair and when to start again. Sometimes it is lack of maintenance or just age that puts a building into disrepair. Assessments need to be made of the structure to decide; it is serviceable, requires knocking down and rebuilding fully or partially as this is the fundamental
“building block” for the future of the building. RHA have a wealth of experience in this field. Timber, steel or concrete framed, traditional masonry all the materials we use to build a structure have their unique strengths and faults and it is with that knowledge we stand strong.
Listed building demand special care, conservation is key.
Barn conversions
RHA have successfully completed a number of barn conversions, whether they are traditional oak framed, or masonry structures we have transformed the building to a new lease of life. Discretion is the way forward here. Adding structural members to enhance or repair the structural frame without them being too obvious or obtrusive.
Club houses & country clubs
We have had our fair share of niche buildings and are very good at providing exactly the right structural answer and infrastructure to support our clients’ needs. Golf clubs, Cricket pavilions, boat houses, gentleman’s clubs and country clubs all have their particular unique requirements and at RHA we have delivered time after time. We understand the quirks and specialist needs of these types of buildings. Sometimes the structure is expressed in the architecture and other times it is not wanted to be seen but is reassuringly there to support all loads required of it.
Leisure and Sports Pavilions
Large or small, specific use or multifunctional buildings we have experience in providing structural and civil engineering solutions to complex architectural demands. Sometimes the structure is expressed in the architecture and other times it is not wanted to be seen but is reassuringly there to support all loads required of it. We embrace the architect’s expressions, wants and desires for a building and provide a practical, cost effective, sometimes innovative solution to making it stand up to the use and abuse it will receive during its life span.
We have experience in refurbishment and provision of new facilities in respect of private and local authority swimming pools. Level channels, balance tanks and services provision around the pool are among the first subjects questions to ensure we provide a structure to accommodate them all.
